George Paterakis

PATERAKIS, George - of Garden City, New York, died peacefully on September 27th, surrounded by family. Born in Astoria, New York, on May 19, 1929, he served honorably in the United States Army Signal Corps. Co-founder and president of Filmstrip and Slide Laboratory, Inc. He was an avid sportsman, excelling at tennis and skiing. He earned trophies for achievements in sailing and golf. A well-respected and esteemed member of the Cherry Valley Club; formerly of the Hempstead Harbour Club and the Touring Kayak Club. Survived by his wife Ophelia, son John, daughter Christine, son-in-law John Duff, and beloved granddaughters Alexandra, Sophia, and Claudia Duff. Friends and family may call Sunday, September 30th at Fairchild & Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, between 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral on Monday, October 1st, at11:30 a.m., at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral ofSt. Paul,110 Cathedral Avenue,Hempstead.
