Lucy Miles

Lucy Miles (also known as Lucia Carmela) of Oceanside, New York passed

away on February 15, 2024 at the age of 84. Born on August 24, 1939 in

Rockville Centre, New York. Attended Riverside School in Rockville Centre.

She enjoyed being the youngest child in her family and growing up with five

siblings. She was married at the age of 18 to Edward Miles. They were

married for 16 years. She was a young mother and had her first child at the

age of 19, a daughter, Lori. Three years later she would have another

daughter, Karen. Seven years after that she would have a son, Edward Miles, Jr.

She loved animals. As a child, living in Rockville Centre, she spoke about

having a pet squirrel. She said that the squirrel would come right up to her

and she would feed the squirrel nuts and the squirrel would sometimes

follow her into the house. She had a dog named Prinnie, a mixed breed with

reddish brown fur and a dog named Mittsy, a miniature black and white

poodle. She also had a cat named Bob and would call him Bobby Boy and a

cat named Jade. She worked for Jack LaLanne Fitness Center as an Office

Assistant helping with a variety of duties. She held various other jobs

including working at a pharmacy where she would greet and assist the

customers.

She was a true animal lover and in her later years, she started her own

business of dog sitting. She was able to build up a clientele of steady

customers. She loved all the dogs that she watched and would treat them as

if they were her own pets. She made sure that each dog she watched

wouldn’t feel lonely. She paid a lot of attention to the dogs by constantly

talking to them and letting the dogs sleep with her in her bed. Her

customers knew how well she took care of their dogs and would highly

recommend her.

Her favorite era was the disco era. She loved the music of that time. She

loved to dance to her favorite disco songs. She would go out to the clubs

with her friends and have a great time. She would be on the dance floor at

all the weddings and celebrations dancing with everyone. She said that was

a time in her life that she enjoyed and had the most fun.

She would only watch television at night, never during the day. Some of her

favorite shows were Wheel of Fortune, 90 Day Fiancé, Hallmark movies and

Netflix. For many years she drove a white Pontiac Bonneville and she loved

how that car looked. Years afterwards she saved enough money to by

herself a blue Jeep Liberty, the perfect size vehicle for her to drive around in.

She enjoyed going to exercise classes, riding her exercise bike at home and

going to the movies with her sister Margie. Part of her daily routine was to

feed the birds. She would come out of the front door of her house and stand

on her front stoop to feed them. She would say that the birds were looking

for her and they would get excited when she had something to feed them

and that they knew her. There were always two loaves of bread included on

her food shopping list which were specifically designated for the birds to

feed them with. She believed that the birds would not have enough to eat if

she didn’t feed them. She looked forward to Sunday family dinners. She

enjoyed cooking her famous pot roast and gravy, lasagna and broccoli rabe,

just to name a few of her dishes. She also made the best mashed potatoes.

Daughter of Italian immigrants (Severino Repetto and Raffaela Albero) and

the youngest child of four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her

children Lori Russo, Karen Lorefice, Edward Miles, her grandchildren Brittany Russo,

Ashley Russo, Michael Lorefice and her sister Margaret DeMase.

Beloved sister to the late Pasquale, Anthony, Umberto and Dominic Repetto.
