It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Alex Filotti, of Garden City, New York, on October 17, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on May 4, 1956, in Bucharest, Romania, Alex’s life was one of courage, perseverance, and unwavering determination. He endured many challenges—escaping communist Romania, spending several years working in Austria, and later starting anew in the United States. Through hard work and dedication, he achieved his dream of becoming Chief Engineer at Citnalta Company and teaching at Hofstra University, where he shared his vast knowledge and passion with the younger generation. His journey was a true testament to strength and resilience—he was a fighter his entire life.
After years of struggle, the last fifteen brought Alex a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness, both professionally and personally. He was finally where he had always wanted to be, surrounded by love, dignity, and peace. Tragically, a terrible illness cut his life short just as everything had come together, taking him at the moment when he was most content.
Alex shared a deep and beautiful bond with his wife, Maria Alina—the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with happiness, mutual devotion, and unwavering commitment. Their love was a true partnership, rooted in respect and affection, and it remained strong and joyful throughout the years.
He is also survived by his beloved son, Tudor, daughter-in-law, Oana, and his adored grandchildren, Sava and Eliza, who brought endless joy and light into his days.
He will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and unbreakable spirit. His memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Condolences will be accepted after the funeral service at the church for approximately one hour. Following the service, the funeral procession will continue to the cemetery.
