Anastasia Karras passed away peacefully in her sleep on 3/30/2024 at the age of 99. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Greek immigrants, Theodore and Marika Soulopulos. Anastasia grew up and lived most of her life in New York and was a long-time devoted member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hempstead, New York. Anastasia was a Sunday school teacher, and an active participant in the membership and church events. Anastasia was engaging, full of life and was especially proud of her Greek heritage. Throughout her life, Anastasia had a deep belief in God and that strong faith and spirituality directed and influenced each day of her life. Anastasia was led by her heart and soul. She met all persons with a sense of respect, dignity, and love. Anastasia espoused love for what she considered all of God's children. Anastasia taught us all that when we need them most, God sends us Angels and those Angels are all of us. She would often say "if Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, there is nothing I cannot do for you", and she lived up to this expectation throughout her entire life. Anastasia always presented with an angelic smile and a look of compassion, and acceptance. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Anastasia moved through life seamlessly, as she was guided by not only her faith but her love for all of you.
Anastasia will be missed each day, especially by her family. She is survived by her beloved family; daughter, Maria Karras, her son Alex Karras and his wife Joanne, her grandchildren Alexis Cragle and husband Ryan, Damon Karras and wife Jenna, and Zoe Demos, and great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Harper Cragle, and Leo and Louise Karras.
May her memory be eternal.
A viewing will be held beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a church service at 11AM on Monday, April 8th at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 110 Cathedral Avenue, Hempstead, NY. After the church service, Anastasia will lie in eternal rest next to her beloved husband, Kostas A. Karras, at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Paul's Cathedral, 110 Cathedral Ave., Hempstead, NY. If preferred, flowers can be ordered from Flowers by Mike, 516-517-2500.
