Andrew J. Clarke was born in Brooklyn on October 7, 1944. He passed away on Satuday August 26, 2017. Raised in Forest Hills, he graduated from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School and Archbishop Molloy High School. At Fordham University, Class of '65 Andrew majored in history, and was a member of the Glee Club and Army ROTC. After military service, Andrew had a long career with the Federal Reserve. Andrew married Denise Finnerty of Bayonne, New Jersey, a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing. Denise and Andrew were married for 44 years at the time of her death on August 1st,, 2017. In retirement, Andrew and Denise worked together with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Anthony's Church in Oceanside. Andrew was also a lay member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. He pursued a lifelong interest in Abraham Lincoln and was an avid reader of history.



Andrew is survived by his brother Michael F. Clarke, and two sisters, Angela Duff and Kathleen Clarke-Pearson. Andrew and Denise had 11 nieces and nephews between them and 16 great nieces and nephews to whom they were completely devoted. Their love and generosity knew no bounds for these young people and for their many friends and families. Andrew had an exuberant personality, a keen intellect and an incredible sense of humor. He and Denise enjoyed travel and many life-long friendships



Calling hours will be Monday, August 28 from 4-7 pm at Towers Funeral Home 2681 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, New York.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Tuesday, August 29 at 10:30 at St. Anthony's RC Church, 110 Anchor Avenue, Oceanside NY.



In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Anthony's Church, Oceanside.
