Antonio J Gallego

Rockville Centre - Antonio (Anthony) Gallego lost his battle with pneumonia, passing away at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Born in Spain on May 26, 1933, Anthony faced difficult times as his younger years were spent surrounded by the Spanish Civil War. As a teen, Anthony moved to London where he met his future wife Jennifer. They then moved to Toronto until eventually settling in New York.

He was a Maitre'D for over 20 years at the world famous 21 Club during its heyday. He was also very involved in the Oceanside Soccer Club in which he enjoyed many years of coaching.

A perpetual family man, he chose to live out his days in Rockville Centre to be close to his son and grandchildren.

Anthony is survived by his son David, daughter-in-law Christie, son-in-law Tom Cangro, Grandchildren Garrett, Connor, Rhiannon Cangro, Daniel Cangro, Christian Cangro, and Keith Cangro. Anthony lost both his wife Jennifer and daughter Julie several years ago.
