Barbara A. Russo

Barbara A. Russo left the physical world with peace and grace on August 11, 2018 with her family by her side. Her life was cut short by a careless driver while she was walking her dog, seven months shy of her 70th birthday. Predeceased by her loving parents Robert and Mary Higgins of Brooklyn, New York. Survived by her son Garrett Russo of East Rockaway, New York, her daughter Danielle Russo of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and her brother Bob Higgins of Columbia, South Carolina and his three children Chuck, Jessica and Becket along with numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews from her marriage to Charles T. Russo.

She placed all of her energy into raising her children and being the very best during her long career with Global Coverage. Her home was a welcoming place for family and friends - her kitchen was never closed. In addition to her many travel adventures by land, sea and air, she enjoyed cooking, reading mysteries, scrapbooking, playing board games and nurturing her plants and garden. She loved her little white Bichon Poodle named Milo who gave her great comfort, purpose and companionship in her last years of life. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves us all rich in memories and will live in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held at Towers Funeral Home, 2681 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, New York on Tuesday August 14th and Wednesday August 15th from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM on both days. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support that have been made by too many people to name individually. The family also urges you to be very aware when crossing streets and to be vigilant in avoiding distractions while you are driving.
