Cesar M. Herguiz

Cesar M Herguiz, 79, of Brooklyn, NY, sadly left us on February 24, 2024. He is survived by Ericka Herguiz, Christian Herguiz, Stephanie Sweeney, and Francisco Herguiz.

He will always be remembered and will forever be loved! He had an amazing career as a professional soccer player as a young teen through his 30s. He left his home country, Uruguay, where he was known as the Canarian to play for a team named Such (Guatemala) where he was known for being the first player to score 16 goals in a match. At the end of his career, he was drafted to play for the Cosmo in the U.S. (Queens, NY) where he was known as the dreamer. New York is where he settled, had a family, made friends, and fell in love with the country.

He was a determined man, focused on achieving his goals. He never gave up. Our dad was selfless. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. He never looked for praises. He was a humble and hardworking man. His dreams were for his family. His wants were very few. And most of the time, his worries went unspoken, too. He was a provider, a leader, a firm foundation for our family.

We will always remember you, Dad, because they’ll never be another one to replace you in our hearts. Your laughter, smile, and stories will hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for loving us and others unconditionally.
