Christopher R. McEvoy passed away on June 18, 2024, succumbing to Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 71 two days shy of his 72nd birthday. He suffered many years and the last few were tough on him and now he is at peace.
Chris is survived by his 3 children. His son Christopher, daughter Meghan Estevez (Luis), his 3 grandchildren (McKayla, Hayden and Luis) and his daughter Bridget. As well as His sister Maryellen Donoghue (Gerry) and brother Kevin (Joan), sister in laws Georgette McEvoy and Ilene McEvoy and lots of family and friends who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alice McEvoy and his two brothers Francis and Edward McEvoy.
Chris led a simple life and didn’t need much. Chris was a very proud of his Irish heritage! He loved to host gatherings and threw really great St. Patrick’s day parties! He loved to attend St. Patrick’s Day parades all month long. He also listened to 90.7 every Sunday and you could walk into his house, and he would be listening to his Irish tunes. He also loved to walk around with his flat cap and his shillelagh. He was a horticulturist and an outdoorsman. He loved anything to do with nature, the weather, planting trees and flowers, going on hikes and just being outdoors. But most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, his friends and family and just having a good time!
Chris lived his life the best he knew and left this earth wishing happiness and peace amongst everyone. He loved everyone and saw the good in everyone. If you had the honor of being in his presence you left knowing a good man. He always made you feel special and genuinely cared and made you feel special. He always had a smile on his face.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing Chris is no longer suffering. So please take a moment to smile and think of Chris and how jolly and full of life he was. His laugh and joy was infectious so to honor him spread that joy throughout!
In honor of his wishes and his favorite place Chris will be buried in Our Lady of Isle Cemetery in Shelter Island, NY.
Shelter Island was a very special place for the McEvoy family, and he will be resting with his parents and family again.
