Constantine Zaferiou

Constantine Zaferiou, born on January 6, 1928 in Queens, NY passed on December 7, 2025, less than one month shy of his 98th birthday. Gus, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was the beloved husband of Penny (d. 2015), father to George (Paris) and Amelia (Tom), grandfather to Paulina, Stephanie, Tom, Dean, and Katerina, and much-loved uncle, cousin, brother, and son.

Gus served his country in the Korean War and then went to work for the NY Times. After he retired, he devoted his time to the most important people his life, his family and friends. Gus lived for his family and friends and supported them in any way he could. He was always there to lend a helpful hand or give advice in his quiet, unassuming way.

He was a longtime resident of Garden City, NY and he enjoyed spending his time there with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his summers at Breezy Point and Ashland, NY surrounded by the people he cared about. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
