Debra (Debi) Jean Levine entered the world on April 12, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in Oceanside, New York by her parents John and Joan O’Brien. She grew up surrounded by family and carried those close knit values with her throughout her life.
Debi embraced motherhood with immense pride and purpose. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her children with endless love, laughter and care. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family and she was lovingly known as a “second mother” to many of her children’s friends.
Debi’s character was defined by her strength, kindness and unwavering loyalty. She had an ability to make others feel supported and deeply cared for even while facing challenges of her own. Her warmth fostered lifelong friendships and left lasting impressions on everyone she met. In December of 2015, Debi was diagnosed with lung cancer. With extraordinary resilience and determination she courageously battled the illness for more than eight years, far surpassing expectations. Her strength throughout this journey was a source of inspiration and hope to all who witnessed it.
Debi found joy in life’s simple pleasures like nature, the beach and soaking in the warmth of the sun. She had a lifelong dream of traveling to Bora Bora. She loved delicious food, was an amazing cook and had a deep love for animals, especially horses, a passion that began in her youth through horseback riding. Above all else, Debi cherished her family and the love they shared. Debi’s legacy of love, strength and unwavering devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
