Deslyn Glenella Daniel

March 26, 1957 - August 22nd , 2017

Deslyn Glenella Daniel, known to her family and friends as simply Sister, transitioned to glory on August 22, 2017 at the age of 60.

The firstborn girl to Lloyd and Lucia Wilkes, Deslyn is survived by her Mother, Lucia Wilkes, her sisters, Sherill Daniel, Sharon Kelly, Denise Daniel-Mack, Jewel Daniel Martin, and her brother, Lloyd Daniel. She is pre-deceased by her older brother Ira "Rockers"Daniel-Wilkes and her youngest sister, Dale Daniel. Known to many on the island of St. Kitts, as Nurse Daniel, or Nursie, Deslyn served with dedication, compassion and integrity at the Joseph N. France general Hospital. She served as a nurse in St. Kitts, Tortola BVI, Montserrat, California and New York. Wherever she served she left a long-lasting impression on patients and coworkers alike. Many speak with fondness of her absolute dedication, her caring and her nurturing, her calm amid chaos and her bright uplifting smile.

Deslyn welcomed everyone into her life and opened her home to relatives and friends, even strangers. She was an avid traveler, visiting countries across the globe, but nothing satisfied her more than caring for the sick and the elderly.

In addition to her siblings she is survived by her significant other, James Harper, her nieces Kenesha, Keleesha, Shareen, Tasheda, Deshea, Diarra, Nyla, Lynelle, Kiama, Donicea and Giselle, nephews Etienne, Deshan, Kayziene, Kadeem, Jaimaron, Daniel, Justin as well as great nieces and great nephews.

Deslyn the nurse, Deslyn the provider, Deslyn the nurturer, Deslyn the big sister, will be missed by all. May her legacy of service, compassion and love live on.

The funeral will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Friday, September 1 at Tremont Terrace Moravian Church, 1621 Pilgrim Ave., Bronx, NY. Burial will be in Kenseco Cemetery, Valhalla on Friday, September 1 at 1:00 pm.

Calling hours will be Thursday, August 31 from 4-8pm at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY and Friday, September 1 from 9-10am at Tremont Terrace Moravian Church Bronx, NY.
