Dolores Duryea passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of the family she spent her life caring for. Born on November 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, alongside her twin sister Christine, Dolores was later raised in and settled in Oceanside, New York, where she built a home and raised her family. Small in stature but fierce in spirit, Dolores was known for being feisty, protective, and endlessly devoted to her children. Her own tough upbringing shaped her, and she passed that same strength and work ethic on to the family she loved so fiercely. She was always there for her kids, doing the best she could through a life that was not always easy. Her kitchen was the heart of her home — she was always looking to feed everyone, making sure no one left the table hungry, and there was always dessert waiting. Dolores found joy in life's simple pleasures: walking to the store, playing the lottery, and taking her time on the walk back to scratch off her tickets. She loved white zinfandel, music, cherished quiet moments of relaxation, a flower or bow in her hair and spent 40 years caring for her partner, Richard Vierra, by her side. She is survived by her three children: Howard and his wife Debra, Patricia and her partner David, John and his wife Babette. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren Howard (Caryn), David, Michelle (Frank), Richard, Christopher, Jacqueline (Andrew),Dominique and nine great-grandchildren Brittany, Jonathan, Jake, Liliana, Olivia, RJ, Justin, Blake and Pearl…all of whom carry forward the strength and love she gave them. Dolores will be remembered for her toughness, her tenderness, and the countless meals made with love. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
