Donna Maria Failla

Donna Maria Salvo Failla, 77, of Oceanside, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Hospice, with her husband and daughter at her bedside.

Born on November 1, 1948, in Elmhurst, NY, to Yolanda and Orazio Salvo, She attended Resurrection Ascension and Holy Cross Academy. She and her brother, Matthew, enjoyed many special occasions with their very large and tight knit family.

Donna's deepest commitments shone as a caregiver, tending to her mother through along illness until her passing, then supporting her father and brother. These roles defined her strength and selflessness, even through life's hardest losses.

Donna's greatest joy came with the birth of her daughter, Gina Marie, to whom she devoted her life with unwavering love. In 2001, she married Richard (Richie) Failla, her steadfast protector; together, they built a nurturing home where she thrived as a housewife, finding delight in cooking, cleaning, laundry (and even ironing) for her family.

Donna adopted her first cat, Max, after she thought she saw a mouse, followed by Rosie and finally Gracie, who filled her days with companionship and endless happiness while her family was at work.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Richard Failla; her cherished daughter, Gina Marie; her brother, Matthew Salvo (Felicia); and her faithful cat, Gracie. She was predeceased by her parents, Yolanda and Orazio Salvo.
