Edward Skehan

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Edward Skehan was called home to be reunited with his parents, Joseph and Marion Skehan, and his brothers, Joseph and Kevin Skehan. Edward was 80 years old. He was born in The Bronx, New York on September 21,1944 to Joseph and Marion. He lived in Oceanside, New York with his loving wife Theresa. They were married for almost 55 years. He was the beloved father of Erin (John), Stephanie (Chris) and grandfather of Aidan, Bridget, Liam, Camryn, and Caleb. Edward was also a very special uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend.

Edward was a brave and honorable man who served his country in the US Army. He worked as a cargo handler at JFK Airport. In his retirement, he served as a Eucharistic Minister at the hospital distributing Holy Communion to the sick. Edward and Theresa loved to spend time together at home, sit on the porch and listen to the radio, get together with family and friends, and visit with their grandchildren. Edward spent his life helping others. He worked hard, cared deeply, and was always ready with a funny comment and a big smile. He will be dearly missed.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 10th from 4-8 PM at Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside, New York. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 9:45 AM at Saint Anthony’s Church, 110 Anchor Avenue, in Oceanside, New York. He will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery, in Calverton, New York on Wednesday, June 11th.
