Elizabeth Owen

Elizabeth “Betty” Baxter Owen, age 78, of Huntington passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Betty was born on March 20, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. She is the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Baxter and the beloved wife of Alton “Tony” Owen who was her high school sweetheart. Betty is the loving mother of Edward, Matt and the late Andy and grandmother of Dale. She is also survived by her sister Jeanne Baxter Scully and niece Maureen Scully.

Betty was a graduate of OHS in the early ‘60’s. She loved music and was the lead singer of the band originally titled “His and Hers” but her faith inspired her to change the name to the “Good News Band” which she was a member of along with Tony. Besides her love of music, she also had a love of gardening, her plants, her family and her catholic faith. Her smile, kind words and deeds brought happiness to all who knew her.  Betty's joy and energy was contagious.

Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery, Lynbrook on Tuesday, July 18th at 12:30pm.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 18th from 10-12pm at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY.
