George Kent Scherer

Family and friends of George Kent Scherer are saddened to share his passing on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the age of 71, after a courageous journey with Bulbar ALS.

A devout Catholic and a man of faith, George was a beloved member of the Long Beach AA community, dedicating the last 15 years of his life to sobriety and supporting others in their journey. He was also a respected realtor at Newman Realty, known for his professionalism and warm demeanor.

George leaves behind his daughters, Nicole Garay and Alicia Sanchez. He was also "Pop Pop" to his cherished granddaughter, Sophie Sanchez. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him for his kindness, generosity, and dapperness.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 10th at St. Mary Of The Isle RC Church, 315 East Walnut Street, Long Beach , NY.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 9 from 2-4 & 6-9PM at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY.
