Gerard J. Mahoney Sr.

Gerard J. Mahoney, born August 29, 1935, Richmond Hill, NY resided in Rockville

Centre, NY; Hinsdale, IL; and Breezy Point, NY. Son of Marie (née Ledden) and David J

Mahoney, brother of David (Peggy). Father of Gerard Jr (Joann), Suzanne (Kevin

O’Donnell), and Brian. Grandfather of Meaghan, Gerard III (Kerrin), Anna (Mitchell),

Tricia, Sarah, Allison, and Eileen. Uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews. Brother-

in-law to James Sheridan (Ann), Margie (Kevin Glynn), and Eileen (Paul Kinloch).

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary (née Sheridan), daughter Kristin

D’Alessio (Scott), and brother James (Joan).

Gerard began his professional journey with Anaconda Wire and Cable, where his talent

and dedication led to his elevation to the position of National Sales Manager—Magnet

Wire Division. This role necessitated a relocation to Hinsdale, IL, where he continued to

excel in his career.

Gerard had a passion for sports that permeated his entire life. He was a former Lynvette

football player and also played soccer and baseball at Mt. St. Mary’s University. His love

for football extended beyond his playing days, as he became a long-time high school

and college football official. His dedication to the sport and commitment to fair play

earned him respect and admiration in the athletic community.

A die-hard Notre Dame football fan, Gerard attended over 40 games throughout his life.

Among these, the most notable was the filming of the classic sports movie "Rudy," a

memory he cherished dearly and not to mention the Catholics vs. the Convicts battle.

Gerard was famously known for hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party, a tradition that

spanned over 50 years. The gatherings were held along the parade route at various

sites throughout the years, bringing joy and festivity to many.

Gerard J. Mahoney's life was marked by love, dedication, and a passion for sports and

celebration. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless

lives he touched along the way.
