Howard G. Robertson

Ex-Chief Howard George Robertson, 86 of Oceanside, NY passed away on March 16, 2025 at MSSN Hospital. Howard was born February 24, 1939 and raised in Oceanside, attending Oceanside schools and enlisted in the U.S Navy serving as “Seabee” in Japan and Alaska.

Known as “Chief Red”, Howard joined the Terrace Hose Co #3 visiting through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief and Chief. He was a member of Oceanside Fire Department for 68 years. “Red” also played trumpet in the Oceanside Fire Department Marching Band under the Leadership of Russell David.

“Red” worked for the Town of Hempstead Parks Department, then for Verizon for many years before retiring in 1998. “Red” was the only child of Howard P. and Lydia (nee Hald), beloved husband of Nancy (nee Fabrizio) for 59 years and cherished father of Tina (John) Nicolicchia, Howard (Heidi) and Terri (Jimmy) Denicker. His proudest moments were being “Poppy” to grandchildren Gabrielle (Sam), Kyle (Shannaye), Amanda (Justin), Casey and Jake, and Great Grandpa to Myles, Anthony and baby girl due to arrive in June.

We will miss his wicked sense of humor, kind heart and big smile.

Funeral services will be held March 20th 7-9pm and March 21st 2-4 & 7-9pm at Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside, NY. Burial is March 22nd at Greenfield Cemetery.
