James Thomas Johnson III, 57, of Queens, New York, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Oceanside, New York.
Born on October 30, 1968, in Queens, New York, James was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Johnson. He attended Franklin K. Lane High School and went on to build a life defined by hard work and passion. James spent many years working in a bagel bakery, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond his profession, he had a deep love for music and was a DJ throughout his life, sharing his passion and bring joy to others up until his final days.
James was a loving and devoted family man who valued time spent with those he cared about most. He is survived by his sister, Donna Bendel, her husband, and their two sons. He also leaves behind his five cherished children: Ashlee Johnson (deceased), Krystle Whitmore, James Johnson Jr., Justin Johnson, and JulieAnne Rivera.
James was also a devoted husband to the love of his life, Lisa Zito Johnson. Their bond was one of deep love and unwavering support. Lisa stood by James’s side through every moment, especially during his final days, sharing in a lifetime of memories, experiences, and love. James also embraced Lisa’s children, Samantha Lopez and Dominick Lopez, as his own, loving and respecting them wholeheartedly.
James will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, his love for music, and the deep care he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
