Words of Remembrance

We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of an extraordinary man. Mr. John Francis Mullady. Beloved husband, loving father, doting grandfather and dear friend to many.

He was a mentor to so many of us because of the way in which he lived. He will be sorely missed by all of us because he truly was one of the good guys. Through his shining example, our father taught us how to live, laugh and love. John Mullady lived every moment of his life to the fullest. He led by his example and showed us how to embrace the present day because you never know what tomorrow will hold.

Because of his passion for life and living in the present, our father went on wonderful trips with my mom every year, enjoyed concerts, outings and celebrations with friends, and spent every holiday surrounded by his adoring family. The memories that we all have of special times shared with John could fill up one hundred lifetimes.

He was an extraordinary light in our lives. His love for his family and friends was boundless and evident in his actions, his presence and his words. His hugs were always a special part of being together. You always got one. A big one. Each time you met. All of us. And he always told us how much he loved us. He showed his love by being there. He loved his home, was so proud of his garden, pool and loved to share it with his family and friends. And his grandchildren. They were his most treasured blessings. Belly flops in the pool, playing baseball, cracking jokes, watching a movie or just having ice cream, Papa John was the best.

And we all know how much John loved to laugh and make others laugh. With the most infectious laugh you have ever heard and such incredible Irish wit, he could make anyone crack a smile at a moment's notice. Truly amazing. Yes he truly will be missed by all of us. And his sudden death came as such a shock. It is so tough to understand yet may we all take solace in the fact that he did not suffer, that he shared a beautiful evening of laughter and love with friends, holding hands with his beloved wife. May we also acknowledge my beautiful mother, his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann for such bravery amidst such tragedy. That by God’s grace she was able to steer the car to safety and that she is here today with us.

May we all find peace in knowing that John is an angel up in Heaven now, making everyone up there laugh like they never have before. Heaven just got a lot more fun!
