Joseph G. Diresta

Thank you for all the love for our dad, Joe DiResta, who passed away on his favorite day of the week, “flea market sunday” and one week away from turning 84.

We grew up with SO many stories of Far Rockaway, the Navy, cousins, working on Wall street before he became an NYC Fireman.

His career as a fireman and love of comedy led to John being a cop and comedian.

The workshop in the basement, interest in photography, cameras, and tools -led to all of our creative careers. He and our mom always made sure we were creating.

He started a legacy of makers through Jimmy. The thrill of the hunt aka garage sales and flea markets were his joy.

He never missed a chance to compliment or mention his grandkids - Aidan, Hunter, Matt, Sabrina, Shannon, Dylan.

He would smile like a little kid watching videos of great-grandson Noah.

Everyone I spoke to this week, whether I met them or not, knew all about Jimmy, Joey, John and me.

He loved Dan, Fran, Ethan, and Heather… Catherine, Debbie, Darrin, Jimmy, Lisa, and their kids. ALL of his cousins and there are many.

His good friends were a close 2nd to his love of family.

He cherished his nieces and nephews, The DiResta’s and Larkin’s, like his own kids in honor of his siblings Anthony and Dorothy.

Our love of friends and community are a reflection of his huge network of friends, family, and lifelong bonds with the firemen.

Special thanks to his neighbors who were always looking out for him.

He was one of a kind, generous and opinionated but most of all a huge heart.

He was so incredibly proud of all of us and we are so lucky. We are grateful for the outpouring of love.
