Karen M. Groner

Karen Marie Groner, 68, of Freeport, New York, passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2025, at Calvary Hospital.

A celebration of her life will take place at Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside on July 11th, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm.

Karen is survived by her husband Peter, her son PJ, and her daughter-in-law Danielle, her granddaughter Shea, siblings Maureen and James, and her nieces and nephews Christina, Juliette, Robert, Joseph, and James. 

Karen was born on December 17, 1956 in Flushing, New York.

She worked at NBC as a billing representative until she decided to be a successful stay at home mom where she dedicated her life to supporting and spoiling her family. 

During these years Karen also provided Respite Care for the elderly where she formed unbreakable bonds with her patients and their families.

Karen will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, kindness, and love for her family and friends. Gift giving was her passion. Holidays were planned well in advance with many gifts for all, especially for her granddaughter Shea, who brought her immeasurable joy. Of course she never forgot her beloved dog Parker and her grand-dog Montauk.

Karen also cherished her Atlantic City "slot machine" trips with her close friends, never missed a day of playing her favorite NY Lottery Daily Numbers 888 and 1025, and always had a lucky horse for the triple crown races.

Karen will be missed by all but remembered for the truly special person that she was.

In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations to Calvary Hospital, who provided compassionate end-of-life care for Karen for the months leading up to her passing.
