Kevin Walter Lucia, 66, passed away on January 7, 2026 at his home in Baldwin, NY. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2015 as a Chief Warrant Officer 5 after 34 years of honorable service. He was an Army aviator and Afghanistan Campaign veteran who found his first love in flying. After retiring from the Army, Kevin was a Life Flight pilot for Geisinger Medical Center in Bloomsburg, PA. He fully retired in 2021.
Kevin was born in Bordeaux, France and grew up in a military family, was educated at St. John’s University, and most recently lived in Baldwin, NY. He was known for his quick wit, infectious ability to make others laugh, outgoing personality, and adventurous spirit. He loved spending time with his family near and far, skiing, traveling the world with his longtime partner Susan, and enjoying a good bottle of wine. He is survived by his children, Christopher Lucia and Lauren Corrigan; their mother, Theresa; their spouses, Kimberly and John; his grandchildren, Alexa, Colin, and Emma; and his siblings, Sue Schmidt, Donald Lucia, and Lynn Flynn. He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur R. Lucia, mother, Marilynn E. Lucia, and brother, Arthur C. Lucia. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Viewings will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Towers Funeral Home, 2681 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, NY 11510.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 11 Gale Avenue, Baldwin, NY 11510 followed by military honors. The burial will take place at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
