Letteria "Lilla" Galletta

Letteria “Lilla” Galletta, age 90, died peacefully at Mt. Sinai hospital in Oceanside, NY on Saturday, August 15, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1935 in Cumia Inferiore, Sicily to her parents Ugo and Maria Interdonato. She married her husband, Filippo Galletta, on September 19, 1955. They both moved to the United States in 1966. Lilla was a talented tailor and worked for Petrocelli Formalwear Manufacturing in Manhattan and National Brand Outlet (NBO) in Great Neck, NY. She had a green thumb and passion for indoor plants and Italian cooking. There was always a plant trail growing around her house and the smell of “sugu” in the background.

Lilla is survived by her daughter, Antonina Hamill of Pennsylvania and her son Hugo Galletta (Kristin) of Connecticut; seven grandchildren Christina McManus (Joseph), James Hamill, Jennifer Ramos Martinez (Fernando), Chelsey Hamill all of Pennsylvania, Gabrielle Galletta of NYC, Philip Galletta of Connecticut and Philip Galletta of Sicily; six great-grandchildren, Dominic, Cameron, Aria, Connor, Ethan and Liam; and her sister Concetta Giacopello of New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Filippo; her son, Paolo; her brother, Giuseppe Interdonato; and her son-in-law, John Hamill.

Calling hours are from 5pm-9pm on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Towers Funeral Home, 2681 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, NY. There will be a private entombment service for immediate family at St. John’s Cemetery in Queens, NY.
