Loderick Smith of Long Beach, NY departed this life on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the age of 85 after a long illness. Loderick was born in Trinidad, West Indies in 1936. He met his wife, Irma, of 57 years in 1962 and their marriage would bless them with four children. Loderick migrated to the U.S. in 1975 where he raised his family and became a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. As the loving patriarch of the Smith family, he was overly dependable and tirelessly came through whenever he was needed. Loderick will remembered for his limitless dedication to his family, continuous generous support and his incredible aptitude for chess; he could never be beat!
