. Marianne was born on January 12, 1955 and was the fourth child to MaryAnn (McLoughlin) and Paul F Wigand. The family would eventually grow to nine children including Lucille, Paul, Jeanne, Timothy, Christopher, Cathleen, Amy and Diane. Throughout the years, Mary was the center rock in a very close family. Her keen sense of humor, radiant smile and her ability to make outrageous faces, allowed Mary to make life-long friends and become the favorite aunt to twenty-two nieces & nephews and all the in-laws!
Mary was determined to spend her life with James Volpe and they were married in 1980. They really were the 'perfect couple' and raised two beautiful daughters - Chelsea Rose and Shaun Elizabeth. They were the light of her life and she gave them everything they needed to succeed. Like their mom, they are beautiful, intelligent, caring and have her gift of humor.
Mary worked at MIS (AIS) for over 30 years and considered many co-workers as her extended family. Her dedication earned her the Presidency a few years ago and she worked tirelessly to make it successful.
Mary was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia in December 2009 and was committed to beat it and get home to her beautiful life. Even after several setbacks, her determination let the miracle happen and Mary was on her way home. She had won temporarily and she enjoyed every day with all of us.
Mary was such an inspiration of inner strength to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing her. She touched and inspired so many of us. She truly believed cherish yesterday, dream tomorrow, and live today.
We can still hear her saying 'Be a flower not a weed'.
