Mary Alchas

Mary Alchas, 90

Devoted wife of the late George Alchas, caring mother to sons Solon and Paul (Christina), and loving grandmother to George and James. Mary was born January 2, 1927 in Hempstead, Long Island to her parents the late Paul and Agape Stratos, and was sister to George Stratos and the late Strat Stratos. Mary departed this life on Sunday October 1, 2017.

During her life Mary was a very active member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul, and her father Paul was a founding member. She also worked at A & S and Macy's department stores for 20 years.

Family and friends will be received at the Fairchild and Sons Funeral Chapel in Garden City, NY on Thursday October 5th from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday October 6th at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul in Hempstead, NY. Burial will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, NY. Donations can be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul.
