Mary Bouzoukas, 93, of Lynbrook, NY passed away on March 14, 2025, in her home.
Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Cathedral on March 20th at 11AM. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY. Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Cathedral on March 20th at 10AM.
Mary was born in New York City to Cristos and Alexandra Balatsos on April 23, 1931. She worked as a secretary for Nassau County Police Department for many years. S she enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, game shows, playing cards, dancing, being the life of the party among her many friends and loving family and was known for her contagious laugh.
She was involved in The Philoptochos and Mr. and Mrs. Club at St. Paul's among many other social groups.
Mary is survived by her 3 daughters, Christine (Spouse Edward), Alexis (Spouse-Paul) and Elise. Her 6 grandchildren: Christopher (Spouse - Nadine), Michael, Stephanie (Spouse - Travis), Edward (Spouse - Caitlin), Christina (Fiancé - Alexi) and Elyse, And her brand-new great grandson, Giorgio Nicholas. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George and her brothers Jimmy (Demetrios), Spiro (Spyridon) and Leo (Leonidas) Balatsos.
Mary, better known as Yiayia to her family, was a bright light, fiercely intelligent, and effortlessly funny, the life of the party wherever she was. She always had a big, beautiful smile on her face and each day ended in laughter. She naturally entertained everyone around, friend or stranger. people gravitated to her. Her positive energy and dynamic presence were difficult to match. People would gather to watch her most graceful and beautiful dancing. she will be sorely missed. May her memory be ever eternal in our hearts.
