Michael was a happy and social person; he enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know them. Michael, or Mikie, as those familiar with him knew him, always had a zest for life, fully embracing the people and pursuits he was passionate about. First and foremost, he was a devoted husband to his wife Phyllis of 51 years. Together they enjoyed hosting parties and family gatherings, cooking gourmet meals and home renovating. Friends and family loved chatting it up with Mikie. He was always interested in learning more about people and giving them, especially the younger ones, helpful advice. In recent years, even as his health failed, you could find him on his loveseat holding court as those near and dear to him waited for their turn at his side. Through the many phases of his life, he followed his heart, finding pastimes that moved him. And, he was always ready for a good time…especially if there was a little mischief involved! But, beneath this cheerful and affable persona there was strength, determination and bravery. For years he endured so many medical challenges, and yet this was never what he focused on. Mike was resilient, a fighter with an optimistic outlook, looking for happy life experiences instead of worries. He was like the silent, strong foundation of a well-built home…nothing fancy but incredibly solid and enduring.
Michael was loved by many and will be missed by all…and he will forever be Phyllis’s anchor.
