Michael James Trezza

Michael James Trezza, died peacefully on March 27, 2025. He was born in Manhattan on October 2, 1943 to Frank and Shirley, big brother to John (Jo Ann), Maria (Bob), Janet (Kenny), Fran (Andre), Donna (Paul), uncle to 13 nieces & nephews, and 12 great nieces & nephews. Husband to Joan and Father to Michael (Andrea) and Dina (John) and grandchildren Emily(John), Rachel(Dawson), John, Joseph, and great granddaughter Charlotte.

He spent a couple of years in Brooklyn and then moved east to Valley Steam, NY when he was seven. A squirrelly childhood with his friends and a love for motorcycles marked his teenage years. At seventeen he met his true love Joan, a polish princess as he would put it, when “in” high school. Joan and his Harley’s definitely distracted him from his school work.

He entered the National Guard for about 6 years while he worked with his Dad at Dor-o-Matic and eventually took over for a 35 year stint. He was married in November 1966 and after his oldest was born in 1970 they moved to Oceanside, NY. Then his baby girl arrived in 1974. Besides spending time with his family, fishing was at the top of his list of things to do. He spent most Saturdays on the boat with his Dad and buddies with a line in the water, a nasty sandwich, and continuous sounds of fiddles and steel guitars on the radio. He went on many family trips, from Bermuda to camping, but his most favorite place was Flatrock. It was our spot in the middle of the woods where many memories were made. He also went on trips with his friends that had him travel to many places with his most favorite being to Italy.

Lucky for his children, being a jack of all trades, he was always available to lend a hand on all projects big or small. Besides cooking and fiddling in his garden, his true joy was spending time with his grandchildren that involved endless hours of long dance recitals, school concerts, and plays. Pop-Pop also had fun cheering them on and giving pointers for countless baseball, soccer, softball, football games, and just recently wrestling matches. He always enjoyed watching a good ball game, whether it was the Mets or those hapless Jets and loved a good cocktail hour with maybe a game or two of Skip-Bo or Yahtzee.

He always made loving his family a priority. He was a one of a kind who will always be loved and forever missed.
