Michael Sean Sloan

It is with shattered hearts that we share the passing of Michael Sean Sloan. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Michael passed away on Friday, July 18th at the age of 38.

Michael was a devoted and loving husband to Diane Rozas Sloan. The two were newlyweds, having just returned from their honeymoon in Italy filled with love, adventures, and excitement for their future in Long Island that they had only just begun together. Diane and Michael were not only husband and wife but also each other's best friends, greatest support, and the love of each other's lives that they searched for years. They made it work by traveling back and forth from Staten Island and Long Island for 3.5 years. No matter where they ended laying their heads at night, they were home. They were each others home.

Born on December 30, 1986, Michael was the cherished son of MaryEllen (Boyle) and Michael Sloan of East Rockaway, New York. He was a loyal and loving brother to Terrence, Brendan (and wife Meghan Mitchell), and Rory Sloan. Michael was the son-in-law to Kathy and Jim Rozas and brother-in-law to Ashley and Brian Rozas. He embraced his role as Uncle Mikey to Luke and Matthew Rozas. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Boyle and Sloan Clans.

Michael was a New York City Police Officer. He began his career with the NYPD in December of 2020. Upon graduating the academy, he was assigned to the 103 Precinct and then took his hard work, talent, and passion for the job to the Jamaica Bid Unit. Not long after he was assigned to the 75 Precinct Detective Squad with the goal of achieving the rank of Detective. Michael was very involved in many of the NYPD organizations such as the NYPD Emerald Society, NYPD Anchor Club, the NYPD Gaelic Football and Rugby team and a Board Member of the NYPD Brooklyn Queens Holy Name Society.

Michael will be remembered as being a respectful, kind, and a hardworking man. He was steady, patient, thoughtful, and endlessly giving to not only his family and close friends but to everyone lucky to cross paths with him. He loved quietly but deeply and showed how he cared through actions that spoke volumes. To be loved by him was to know true gentleness, patience, and unwavering support.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made in honor of Michael to the NYPD Anchor Club -Widows and Children of the NYPD Organization. Michael was not only proud to serve as a NYPD officer, but he was deeply involved with this organization which supports the families of fallen officers. It was a cause he believed in wholeheartedly. Michael would be honored to have his memory live on through continued support of the Anchor Club’s mission.

Thank you for helping us carryon on Michael’s memory and values he stood for—- love, service, and support for those in need.
