Mitchell Samuels was born April 10, 1953 to Henrietta and Melville Samuels and grew up in Teaneck, NJ. He loved riding his motorcycle, fixing motorcycles, and talking about motorcycles his whole life. He owned The Alternative Cycle Shop in Freeport, NY for nearly 38 years, a gathering place for all who shared his passion for riding. He also loved animals, including family dogs Turbo and Simba. He is survived by his wife, Janet Samuels, daughters Margaret Samuels and Clara Samuels, siblings Ronnie Samuels and Barry Samuels, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, step-siblings, in-laws and friends. He loved going on toy runs for Toys for Tots with his fellow riders, bringing toys for children in hospitals during the holiday season. He spent the last years of his life achieving life long dreams, such as riding across the country with his daughter, Clara, seeing friends and family along the way and many cities, parks, and sites of natural wonder, and also witnessed his daughter, Margaret become a PhD and get married to Ethan Greenberg. He died Dec 27, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that donations be made to Toys for Tots in his memory.
