It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nestor Dario Villalta, beloved son, father, brother, and friend. Nestor died on June 16, 2025, at the age of 55, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on October 9, 1969, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Nestor was the cherished son of Imelda Sevilla Castro and Dario O. Villalta Matamoros. He spent his early years surrounded by the love of his sister, Claudia Mariana Villalta, his grandmother, Mariana Larios, and his aunts and uncles—Nora Larios Aguilar, Luis Manuel Sevilla, Sonia Larios, Ledia Larios, and Renee Larios—as well as many cousins and friends. At the age of 15, Nestor moved to the United States, where he reunited with his mother, Imelda Sevilla Castro, stepfather Orlando Castro, and joined his brothers, Joseph Orlando Castro and Luis Alberto Castro, in Williston Park on Long Island.
Nestor dedicated much of his life to the food industry, working his way up from managing deli counters to proudly owning his own business, Silver Lake Delicatessen. His entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, and kindness left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Above all, Nestor’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishments were his two children, Angela Villalta and Anthony Villalta, who survive him and will carry forward his legacy of strength, love, and resilience.
Nestor fought a courageous battle against a rare form of myeloma, showing immense bravery, strength and determination throughout his journey. Though cancer ultimately claimed his life, it never dimmed his spirit.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Nestor’s life on Saturday, July 12th, from 3:00 PM –7:00 PM at Tower Funeral Home, located at 2681 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, NY 11572.
The Villalta family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Sloan Kettering for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided during Nestor’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Nestor’s memory to the International Myeloma Foundation.
Nestor will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. The memories he created and the love he shared will live on within us and be forever cherished in our hearts.
