Nicholas Burger

Nicholas Burger of Baldwin, Long Island, passed away peacefully in his home on April 1st, 2026 at 103 years old. He arrived in this world on September 4, 1922, the 2nd of 4 children born to Julius and Marie Burger. Nicholas was a lifelong resident of Baldwin. He attended St. Christopher’s Grammar School, Baldwin High School and Farmingdale College where he received an engineering degree. He then served his country during WWII as an airplane mechanic stationed in Naples, Italy.

Nicholas began working at a young age in the family construction business and grew to become a master carpenter, a career that spanned more than 50 years. In his spare time as a youth, he loved to take advantage of the fishing and clamming the island provided. Upon retirement, he spent much of his time gardening, reading, baking and woodworking, and always enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his three siblings, Julius, Catherine Rogers, and Ernest, as well as his nieces Julia Hiel, Marianne Rogers and great nephew Brett Burger. Nicholas was a loving uncle to 42 surviving nieces and nephews, including great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
