Oreanthi “Ore” Kladias, 60, of Rockville Centre, NY, passed away on January 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Steven and Angeliki (Battis) Galakis who immigrated from the island of Chios, Greece and eventually settled in Rockville Centre, NY, where she and her older brother Nicholaos were raised.
Ore was a steadfastly devoted daughter, wife, and mother. In 1981, she married Nikolas Kladias, a childhood acquaintance, also from the island of Chios. They raised two children, Katerina (Kladias) Franzese and Michael Kladias. She was primary caregiver to her father and mother, both of whom lived well into their 90s.
Ore had a long and successful career in the retail banking industry, employed by JPMorgan Chase (formerly Chemical Bank) where she held a variety of positions on Long Island, including District Manager and Branch Manager. Her level of loyalty to staff and clients was proven in her ability to maintain a 41-year track record working for the company, even through multiple acquisitions. Family and friends were Ore’s love and joy. She enjoyed cooking and was a fabulous baker. Entertaining was a passion of hers, and she frequently opened her home for dinner parties and holiday celebrations. She looked forward to spending her annual summer vacations with her family, dancing, swimming and basking in the sunlight on the beaches of Chios, Greece.
Her kind and brilliant spirit is embedded in us all. We shall forever celebrate her vibrant and contagious smile.
Oreanthi is survived by her husband Nikolas; two children, Katerina and husband Alex, and Michael; grandchild Matheo; brother Nicholaos; nephew and the rest of her beloved relatives and friends.
