Ronald Walter Deardoff

DEARDOFF, Ronald Walter. Was born September 20, 1938 in Far Rockaway, Queens and died in his 77th year on April 30, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the son of Walter Deardoff and Eva Ellen Ronquist. After serving in the United States Navy, he began his career with TWA and then married his high school sweetheart Marie (nee Schmitt) Deardoff on June 28, 1958. They were married for 58 years and best friends for 62. He is survived by his four children Cheryl Gress (Michael), Christopher (Leslie Greenberg), Jodi Yurick (Richard), and Jonathan (Mark Harris). He was a most devoted grandfather to 12 grandchildren all of whom admired and cherished him. He was former longtime resident of Oceanside, NY where he served with the Oceanside Fire Department for 42 years. For 35 of those years he was a member of Rescue Company (Captain for 8) and a member of Hose Company for 7 where he was a life member. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, beloved father and grandfather and friend to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Services will be held at Towers Funeral Home, Oceanside, NY, Sunday, May 8th, 2:00-4:30pm and 7:00-9:00pm and Monday May 9th 9:30-10:15am. He will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery.
