Rose Victoria Combs

Rose Victoria Combs, 91, of Rockville Centre, New York, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 4, 2026. Born on November 18, 1934, in Oceanside, New York, Rose lived a life defined by her unwavering devotion to family, faith, and country.

A graduate of Freeport High School, Rose was a proud homemaker who found her greatest joy in nurturing those she loved. She was a humble woman of strong convictions, and her passion for her family was evident in everything she did. Rose delighted in hosting family Sunday dinners, cooking for loved ones, and spending long days at the beach or poolside. She cherished her time babysitting her grandchildren, and few things brought her more pleasure than entertaining guests, settling into a good book or movie, sweets, or savoring a fresh cup of coffee.

Rose was an active member of her community, serving with the Oceanside Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoying the fellowship of the Red Hat Society. She was also a passionate fan of St. John's basketball and Army lacrosse. She was renowned for her meatballs marinara at Army lacrosse tailgates.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James A. "Bucky" Combs, to whom she was married for forty years and her cherished sister Mary Gentile. Rose is survived by her three loving daughters, Donna Bain, Diane McCain, and Doreen Cook and son Jimmy, precious son-in-law Tom Bain, and dearest daughter-in-law Susan Combs as well as eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Thomas and Jessica Bain of Lewes, DE; Meghan and Andrew Roberts of Sea Cliff, NY; Patrick and Jacqueline Bain of Wyckoff, NJ; Kevin and Hilary Bain of Short Hills, NJ; Lauren McCain of Delran, NJ; James and Lara Ngai McCain of Red Bank, NJ; Grace Combs of Brooklyn, NY; Matt Combs of Philadelphia, PA; Connor Cook and fiance Jacky Jones of Cleveland, OH; Brendan Cook and fiance Tessa Seidenspinner of Brooklyn, NY; and Maggie Cook of Philadelphia, PA.

Her surviving great-grandchildren are Thomas “TR” and Jack Bain; Ellie and Bennett Roberts; Cameron Bain; Colin and Griffin Bain; and Leo McCain.

A woman of deep and devout Christian faith, Rose now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Her family takes comfort in the words of John 16:22: "So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy."

Visitation will be held at Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside, New York, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's R.C. Church in Oceanside, New York, at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, New York.
