Rosemarie Cannao, beloved mother & grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 16, 1932, and raised in Queens, NY. She married Frank J. Cannao on June 16, 1956, on her 25th birthday. They were married for 44 years until his passing.
They lived in Flushing, NY for many years where they had a wonderful life and later moved to Baldwin Harbor, NY to live with their only child, Maria, and her husband Rey Alvarado. Shortly after moving to Baldwin Harbor, Frank passed away. Rosemarie remained with her daughter and son in-law where she lived a beautiful life. It was there that she became a grandmother to her one and only grandchild, Angelina Rae whom she adored.
Rosemarie always loved children and spent a lot of time with her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, which brought her so much joy. One of her biggest pleasures in life was cooking for her family and friends. She was an amazing cook who loved watching everyone eat what she prepared. She truly enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays and milestones with her family.
She was a hairdresser by trade, she worked for a few years at Queens College in the gourmet shop, but her biggest accomplishment was being a homemaker. However, her most meaningful role was being a grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Mary Casaletti, her beloved husband Frank Cannao, her brothers and sister in-laws, Joseph (Susan) Casaletti and Frederick “Junior” (Annette) Casaletti, her sister Margaret (Jack) Batka, brother in-law Philip Giarrratano, nephews John and Michael Batka. She is survived by her sister Rita Giarratano.
Her legacy will live on through her loving family as they continue with her Italian traditions and with each meal and holiday they spend together.
She was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed, and forever remembered by those who knew her.
