Thomas E Redmond

Our loving Lord called home His faithful and loyal servant Thomas Edward Redmond, on Monday, July 13, 2015. At the age of 77, Tom reported for his new assignment with many of his family and friends around him in prayer.

Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of Army National Guard and in October 1961, Tom joined the ranks of the greatest brotherhood in the world, the NYPD. Tom was recognized numerous times for his outstanding work with runaway youth. He actively assisted on his own time with reuniting these youth with their parents. Tom was acknowledged by the NYPD for many armed robberies, burglaries, assaults and attempted murder arrests. When Tom retired after 20 years of service, he became part of the U.S. Marshals serving on a number of special details. When the tragedy of September 11th hit our country, Tom was activated with the National Guard and served 110 days! He received the New York Governor’s medal for his service and dedications!

Tom had a special Irish smile that made people know right away that he was the real deal. He loved people and he loved to share stories and make people laugh. To his family, he was an outstanding mentor, protector and provider! Family and faith were the most important in his life. Many of his family and friends referred to Tom Redmond as “pop”.

Pop loved his Irish heritage; however he stood with pride and tears every time he saw a soldier or the United States flag. Pops had the full package he was tough, but gentle and extremely smart, but humble.

Tom grew up with two siblings, Michael and Sarah, “Sally”. His brother Michael preceded Tom to heaven almost three years ago. Michael gave Tom the gift of two wonderful nieces, Tracie and Pamela and a nephew, Kevin. His sister Sally is his best friend and she gave Tom the joy of loving her two children, Billy and Robyn. Billy met the Lord and is watching over his family every day. Robyn married Dave and they have two adorable children named Alana and David.

Tom was married to Virginia Buonocore and they raised three children, Thomas, Darren and Patricia. Their marriage eventually ended. Tom later remarried to Maryanne DeAngelo and they had a son Michael. Tom took great pride in his family! His legacy lives on in many forms. His son, also named Thomas, married his beautiful wife Mary and they brought three children into the world, Thomas, Amanda and Frankie. His daughter married a wonderful man and fellow NYPD officer, Steve. They had two children together, Steven and Gregory. His son, Darren married Jackie and they raised two children together, Lauren and Jake. His son Michael gave Tom the gift of another granddaughter, Brooklynn. His grandson, Thomas, married Tania and they currently have a beautiful daughter on the way. Amanda’s boyfriend Andre and Frankie’s fiancée Marissa both have had the privilege of knowing and loving Tom and he loved them dearly.

Tom Redmond always stressed the importance of faith, family and love. He also ensured his family was equipped with strength and perseverance.
