Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend
Thomas, 84, of Bluffton, South Carolina, originally from Rockville Centre, New York, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2020. As a very accomplished polio survivor, Thomas served as the director of demolition for the city of New York for over 30 years. He also was the successful owner of Perimeter Bridge and Scaffolding where he worked alongside his beloved cousin and best friend, Glenn Blinn. He happily retired and settled in Sun City.
Thomas was an avid poker player and greatly enjoyed playing card games with his social club friends. He spent time outside greeting his neighbors with his treasured pup, Duncan, by his side. Thomas gathered with his precious family every summer in Sag Harbor, New York where he fished, boated, and made countless beach memories. Thomas was a member of The Knights of Columbus and was a man of strong faith. With an unwavering sense of conviction and a heart full of gold, Thomas was driven by love and kindness for others.
Thomas is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Lorraine, children Daniel (Laurie), Deborah (Todd), Donna (Darren), Denise (Jesse), and Doreen (Andy), siblings Frances, Robert (Liz), Kathleen (Don), many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his dearest sister Dorothy, and brother-in-laws Harold and Jack.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, October 26th at Saint Gregory the Great Church - 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, South Carolina 29909.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:45 am on Wednesday, October 28th at St Agnes RC Cathedral, Quealy Pl, Rockville Centre, NY with. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sag Harbor on Wednesday, October 28th at 12:15 pm.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 27th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY.
