Virginia May Herson

Virginia Sheahan Herson went home on January 18, 2025. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 34 years, Matthew as she was predeceased by our father Denis St John Sheahan in 1986. Mother of Denise, Brian, Katrina and Ginger having lost her two youngest sons John Arthur and Thomas. She is also survived by her brother Arthur, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, along numerous nieces and nephews.

Usually that would be more than enough for an obituary but not for Mom. She was a crazy, silly, up for anything kind of woman. She was fiercely protective, loving and supportive, half assed would never do with Mom. Mom had the time to give back to her church community both in our youth with the Altar and Rosary society at St. Camillus Church and as a volunteer driver for women in need of rides to pick up their welfare groceries. Growing older she gave her time as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Anthony’s Church, early on helping at the feast of St. Anthony. Mom squeezed every bit out of life.

We usually only get one great love in our life and that’s if we’re lucky. Mom was blessed with two great loves, our father John and our stepfather Matty. They both adored her and she them. Each came at the perfect time in her life. Mom was lucky like that. Just when you thought she’d settle down Mom would decide to write another chapter.

Her faith got her through some pretty hard times and that faith would never leave her or waiver through almost 90 years. She was not afraid of death. She told us that death did not scare her, she would embrace it when it came and delight in meeting her creator. It’s what we all aspire to that peaceful, Eden that we are all promised. Mom kept that bargain with our Savior as he took her quickly and with little suffering.

Mom isn’t gone as long as just one person remembers her kindness and love. So, she will live on in our stories, our laughs and our memories. Till we meet again.
