With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Billy Jones. Born on January 9, 1947, in his childhood home in Jamaica, New York, Billy went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2026, at the age of 79.
Billy resided in a group home where he would watch by the window for his sisters to visit him. He lived a life of simplicity, defined by love, and faith. Though disabled, he never let that define his vibrant spirit. He loved music and loved to sing his favorite songs which were "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" & "Jesus Loves Me". His favorite sports were baseball, and basketball. Billy loved to wear special shirts for each person. He loved to wear his football shirt for his brother- in- law Jim. He loved stuffed toys each singing a different song, which he loved to sing along with. He loved coming home for all the holidays, especially Christmas and being with family. He loved decorating his room for all the holidays and seeing the Christmas lights. Billy also loved the statue of the Blessed Mother and called her mommy.
He was predeceased by his father, Hosmer Jones; his mother, Matilda Borrelli Jones; his brother, Buzz; and his niece, Debbie. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving sisters Yolanda and Gwen, his caring brother-in-law Jim, and his nieces and nephews: Bobby, Ricky, Brenda, Jennifer, John, Kathy, Paul, Mark, Jimmy, Cindy, and Denise.
A private viewing by the family will be held at Towers Funeral Home, Inc. in Oceanside, NY on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following the visitation, Billy will be laid to rest with his mother and father at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, N.Y.
Billy's departure has left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith have touched many lives, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
May he rest in peace, forever embraced by the love of his family and our Lord Jesus Christ.
