Zoe Lantelme Belth was born in Lyons, France on May 4, 1911, the first of eight children to Louis and Zoe Chopard Lantelme. The family emigrated to St. Augustine, Fl. in 1918. In 1929 the family moved to Long Beach, NY, the year Zoe graduated Valedictorian from St. Joseph's Academy in St. Augustine. She immediately took the position of Administrative Assistant to Velma Hendrickson, Principal of the East School, until the start of WWII, when she married Marc Belth (later Professor at Queens college). In New York City she took the position of interpreter for a scientist from Switzerland at Union Carbide. After the war, she worked at World University Service where she assisted in the placement of refugees and displaced persons into American Universities.
Zoe has been a resident of Hempstaed since 1983. Her Husband passed away in 1986. She is survived by three brothers: Henry Lantelme of St. Augustine, FL, Peter Lantelme of Massapequa Park and Rudy Lantelme of Goshen, NY, and by two sisters, Marguerite Kelerchian of Naples, FL. anf Yvonne Forrest of East Rockaway, NY. She also leaves nine nieces and nephews, seven grandnieces and nephews and three greatnephews.
